A Mile a Life Starts 23rd May 2023

“A Mile a Life” is the foundations largest annual event running from 23rd May to Charlies Birthday 23rd June. It brings a feeling of togetherness, something Charlie always created when he was around people. Anyone can get involved. We encourage participants to attempt to cover miles for each death lost to suicide the year prior. A number that is so difficult to try and understand.

All miles are linked to our club on Strava. In 2022 we had over 300 people involved. We encourage you to get outdoors and enjoy the little things, join the community, join a friend or walk alone and enjoy the fresh air.

This month-long challenge is to help improve people’s connections through physical activity. Exercise is an integral part of maintaining a healthy mindset day to day. As a foundation, it is always on our minds to promote the importance of physical activity and we are keen for people to take time to think about the individual lives lost to suicide each year.

The final day of the month-long challenge will see participants come together and walk from York Minster to Charlie’s memorial bench at Bishopthorpe Crematorium in his memory.

It saddens us deeply to announce that the number of miles we aim to cover this year is 5,583 💔

This was sadly the amount of lives lost to suicide in England and Wales in 2021. We will think of all these people who lost the battle with their mental health, their families and their friends as we complete our event.

Our biggest awareness event where people come together in memory of others but also focusing on their own mental health by getting up and getting out.

Who’s joining us this year ??????
